Abstract

A neutron kinetics model is developed for a so-called pumped gaseous-core reactor. Essentially this system is a nuclear reactor with an oscillating fuel mass. The resulting oscillations in reactivity and neutron generation time gives rise to a peculiar type of kinetic behaviour. Analyses are made in the form of the power oscillations, of reactivity requirements for operation with stationary oscillation and of nonstationary behaviour.
