Abstract
Neutron-induced fission was studied for energies corresponding to both sub-barrier and super-barrier fission of 204Pb, 206Pb, 207Pb and 208Pb isotopes. A method of measuring very low cross sections for fission induced by neutrons was devised. The experimental results are interpreted in terms of the Strutinsky shell-correction method based on the deformed Woods-Saxon potential. The experimental data agree qualitatively with the theoretical estimates.
