Abstract

The National Electronic Site License Initiative (NESLI) is an initiative funded and supported by the UK higher and further education councils to promote the widespread delivery and use of e-journals. Day-to-day activities are undertaken by the Managing Agent and include: negotiating deals with publishers; handling subscriptions; providing a single interface for access; and encouraging the use of the NESLI Model License. Deals from publishers are communicated electronically to designated representatives within the community and libraries make their own decisions on whether to accept an offer. Deals with twelve publishers are currently available with many more in the pipeline.
