Abstract

This contribution hopes to be a sort of mental voyage through the doctrinal, and other, works of the Holy Office. This short journey will attempt to describe the activity of the Dicastery, by examining the juridical instruments that dictated its rules and the rhythm of its daily life. It seeks to recount the activities and diverse matters examined by the Holy Office, with particular attention to the pontificate of Pius XII, by examining the various series present in the Archive of the Holy Office – in particular, Censura librorum, Rerum variarum, Dubia varia and Devotiones variae.
