Abstract
Summary A negative-pressure flexible film isolator for laboratory use and suitable for work with dangerous viruses is described. It has been used for working with Ebola, Lassa and Congo Krim viruses during a 10 month period. Supplying and unloading of the isolator through the supply port with a plastic bag system has proved successful. Most routine virological procedures can be carried out. The type of gloves, the elbow support and the metal base plate inside the isolator have all contributed in reducing fatigue in personnel while they were using the apparatus. Using an inverted microscope standing outside the isolator has enabled cell culture reading to be carried out comfortably.
