Abstract

The objective of this research was to discover the spiritual needs that CKD patients undergoing dialysis treatment may have. The search was carried out in the Scielo, PubMed and Google Scholar databases, using the descriptors plus Boolean operators: “Espiritualidad” AND “Hemodiálisis”, "Espiritualidad” AND "Enfermedad renal”, “Spirituality” AND “Hemodialysis” and "Spirituality and Hemodialysis". Articles that are published in journals indexed between the years 2018 to 2022, with a theme related to the spirituality of dialysis patients, are included; for the selection, the flowchart using Prism Matrix was taken as a reference. The final sample consisted of 5 articles, which were analyzed, four of them based on a qualitative approach and one on quantity: good with oneself, feeling good with others, personal beliefs, meaning of existence, faith/religion, closeness to a higher being/God, connection to nature, family roles/support, and nurse roles/support.
