Abstract
The paper analyses the influence of the total harmonic deviation on supplementary losses and torque pulsations in the induction motor. By dissembling the deviation between the stator flux-linkage polygon and the fundamental circle into its components, a new insight is won. A near-minimum loss modulation strategi is derived, which turns out to be partly synchronous, partly asynchronous.
