Abstract
Lanthanide texaphyrin derivatives containing Er3+, Nd3+, and Yb3+ ions exhibit near-IR emission from the f–f transition of the lanthanide ions. Both the triplet transient difference absorption spectral measurement and singlet oxygen generation measurement suggest energy transfer from the macrocyclic ligand to the lanthanide ions. Electron-transfer mechanism could also play a role in the NIR emission of Yb–Tex complex.
