Abstract

The title complex [(Nd-μ3-Cl9)](subscript ∞) (1) has been synthesized via hydrothermal reaction and be characterized by X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P 21/n' (no. 14), a=6.2010(5) A, b=3.8740(4) A, c=12.5680(11) A, β=93.91(0)°, V=301.21(5) A3, Z=2, Dc=4.744 g/cm^3, S=1.316, λ(M0Kα)=0.71073, F(000)=376, R1=0.1239 & wR2=0.3972. The crystal structure shows that Nd (Ⅲ) ion is coordinated with nine chloride atoms bridges (μ3-η 1), forming a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The six symmetry-equivalent prismatic chloride ligands define the vertices of the trigonal prism. The three capping chloride ligands are positioned outside the rectangular faces of the prism. The Nd (Ⅲ) ion is in the center. The three-dimensional (3-D) crystal structure is stabilized by electrostatic interaction.
