Abstract

ABSTRACT The fuel economy performance of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) highly depends on the energy management strategy. This paper proposed a navigation-based model predictive control (MPC) method for a novel serials-parallel PHEV. The navigation technology is utilized for the speed forecasting. In order to modify the errors in navigation predicted speed, the mapping relations of predicted speed and real speed is built. Moreover, a hybrid genetic algorithm with the advantages of whale optimization is proposed to find the best energy management strategy. The comparison results under real driving cycles demonstrate the accuracy of the navigation-based method, and the proposed MPC can effectively reducing 8.07% energy consumption.
