Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic creates global challenges to well-being, both physically and psychologically. Various research results show that the negative impacts that emerged during the pandemic were problems related to mental health, one of which was stress. One of the protective factors that can affect a person's stress is grit. Grit has a strong influence on reducing stress because it is a psychological source that can increase self-resilience. This study aims to see the role of grit in stress on students during a pandemic. We use convenience sampling in this research. Respondents involved in this study amounted to 258 students. The instruments used in this study were the grit scale and the stress sub-scale on the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42). Data analysis in this study was carried out by simple regression analysis using the open-source statistical software Jamovi. The results showed that grit negatively affected stress (F=8.14; p0.05). Grit's contribution to stress is 6.7%.
