Abstract

The article explores the problems and consequences of the informal economy and taxation in Uzbekistan, focusing on their impact on economic development and policy-making. It examines the prevalence of informal economic activities, tax evasion and their consequences for public revenues, working conditions and social protection. The need for comprehensive measures to encourage formalization, simplify the tax system and strengthen tax administration was emphasized in the discussion. The analysis highlights the importance of addressing these issues in order to achieve sustainable growth, reduce inequality and increase social welfare in the context of Uzbekistan's economic landscape.
