Abstract
The Third International Symposium on the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD Symposium '85 ), hosted by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), was held at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rockville, Md., April 21–26, 1985. The first symposium on this subject was held in the Canal Zone in January 1979, while the second was held in Canada in May 1980.NAVD Symposium '85 was sponsored by the International Association of Geodesy and the U.S. Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In addition, the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Canada; Pan American Institute of Geography and History; American Geophysical Union; and American Congress on Surveying and Mapping provided support.
