Abstract

In-plane misorientations of YBCO films on (0 0 1) MgO were studied by X-ray -scan analysis. Various types of growth orientations were observed with several preferred misorientations. The observed misorientation angles agreed well with those predicted from near-coincidence site lattice (NCSL) theory and the models of YBCO/MgO and YBCO-YBCO interfaces were proposed. Josephson devices were found to be made with the less epitaxial YBCO films. An artificially made, high-angle YBCO grain boundary has been proved to work as a Josephson junction.
