Abstract

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), founded in 1912, is a voluntary, nonprofit agency composed of 62 licensing authorities (the medical boards of the 50 states and 12 other authorities). The Federation has strived since its founding to advance the quality and uniformity of regulations and procedures for medical licensure and for ensuring the continuing competence of those who are licensed to practice medicine.
