Abstract

Abstract National stereotypes and social distance among a group of Indian students. The stereotype images and social distance toward different ethnic groups ofSouth Africa (Afrikaans- and English-speaking South Africans. Bantu, Coloureds. Jews and Indians) ot' Indian students from the University College of Durban were tested. The results indicated that the Indians have an overall positive prejudice image towards the Coloured and English-speaking sections of South Africa. in contrast to the negative and hostile prejudiced image towards the Jewish and Afrikaans-speaking sections.
