Abstract
This paper explores how Cornish national and regional identity is construed in works of fiction: W. Graham’s Poldark literary series (1945-1946) and its BBC screen adaptation (2015-2019). The research looks into the linguistic and narrative representations of nationalism and regionalism in Cornwall and demonstrates how Cornish national identity is represented. We focus on how the plot, the setting, and the means of characterization are employed to build a sense of Cornish national identity.
