Abstract

Design and performance of two-dimensional focusing and imaging devices based on plasmonic metamaterials are described. Depending on frequency, these devices may operate both in the normal lens and the superlens mode. While spatial resolution in the normal lens mode approaches the plasmon wavelength, resolution in the superlens mode is estimated to be of the order of 70 nm.
