Abstract

AMPs are neutral and small size component of the immune system and showed better activity for the treatment of tuberculosis. The present study aimed to complex nisin with carbohydrate to increase bioavailability and provide site-specific action at lungs via pulmonary route. Nanocomplexes were prepared by kneading method and then adsorbed on lactose for DPI formulation. Nanocomplex of nisin peptide with carbohydrate offered a better effect along with dose reduction was proved by using M. tuberculosis H37Ra (ATCC 25177). Nanocomplex proved to be an alternative delivery to conventional drug therapy for the treatment of tuberculosis.
