Abstract

Nano-structures and magnetic properties of Zn1-xCux/2Nix/2Fe2O4 (x = 0–0.4) nanoparticle synthesized by natural iron sand from Lombok Island, Indonesia using the co-precipitation method have been studied. The synthesis didn't have temperature calcination. Characterization of powder samples conducted from X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) for inform structural and magnetic properties. XRD results confirmed that the crystal size increased with increasing compositions of Cu2+ and Ni2+ from 13.4 to 17.7 nm. As a result of the increase in the compositions of Cu2+ and Ni2+, the coercivity in all samples also increased from 87.85 to 95.25 Oe, respectively. The absorption peak of spectra is the absorption by all samples, so this conditions affect to structure of all samples. Then, the decrease in the value of magnetization in x = 0.4 was probably because the Ni2+ atoms. It is evidenced by the decrease in the volume of crystals in the sample. Zn1-xCux/2Nix/2 Fe2O4 nanoparticle has been conducted in nanoscale which the form of all samples is cubic spinel and soft magnetic properties without temperature calcination, respectively.
