Nafer Ermiş’in Çevirmen ve Yazar Kimlikleri Arasındaki Bağ

Abstract

Especially in a literary translation, the translator is expected to not only have a perfect mastery of the source language and target language, but also to reflect on the translator's writing style and in a sense take on the role of the author. It is noticed that some authors are translating; on the other hand, some translators are authors at the same time. In this context, Nafer Ermiş, who is a writer and a translator contributed to the enrichment of the Turkish language and Turkish literature both by his own works and by translating the works of world-famous authors from German into Turkish. In this study, Nafer Ermiş is described on the one hand as a translator and his translated works are presented, on the other hand his original works as an author are analyzed. The focus is on the interrelationship between translatorship and author- ship. The contribution of his writings to his translations or the effect of being a translator on his writings was aimed to be discussed together with his own life story in line with a personal interview.
