Abstract

Los textos aquí reunidos se derivan del simposio “Representaciones sobre la diversidad étnica y de género en los proyectos de nación de las Américas”, presentado en el marco del V Congreso de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Antropología y el XVI Congreso de Antropología en Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia, junio de 2017). En esa ocasión, nos reunimos investigadoras e investigadores provenientes de universidades de México, Argentina y Brasil, con el fin de indagar en la forma como las diversidades étnicas, de nacionalidad y de género han sido representadas, incluidas o excluidas de los relatos nacionales del continente. Partimos de la idea de que cada nación, a lo largo de su proceso de construcción, ha creado sus propias formas de concebir la diversidad. Aunque es posible encontrar algunas similitudes en la forma en que los pasados y las presencias de diversos grupos étnicos han sido representados en las naciones del continente, cada caso presenta particularidades. Nos interesaba, entonces, dar cuenta de distintas formas de representar tales diversidades en el marco de los proyectos de nación de las Américas a partir del siglo XIX y hasta la actualidad
