Abstract

The article analyzes an important element of the control of the Soviet military counterintelligence over the top command staff of the Red Army - monitoring the actions of the command in combat conditions. Two approaches are identified that manifested themselves in the activities of counterintelligence during the war: traditional (exposing) and constructive. The author divided the supervisory functions of military counterintelligence into two blocks: control of the army (behind the army) and control “within the army". The issues of the need for informing, its quantitative and qualitative characteristics are considered. The degree of influence of counterintelligence information on the actions of military leaders on the decision-making on personnel changes is considered.
