Abstract

This month's annual NAADAC conference, held in Denver, was full of many sessions devoted to current pressing issues for the addiction field, including pre‐ and post‐conference sessions, posters, and intriguing keynotes. There were also some basics for the current workforce. Below are highlights from the meeting. Discussions about “cultural humility” and “trauma,” traditional topics for NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, but now in vogue, were scattered all over the agenda. So was harm reduction, gender, and the contributions of the Native American community to treatment (it's more than just alcohol, with shame pervading in this marginalized population).
