Abstract
A method employing the malleus head in ossiculoplasty is described. A malleus head, removed with a malleus nipper, is used as an autograft, orpreserved homograft material, the latter being especially useful. This material is commonly utilized as columella material in the second stage of a staged operation, or as an interpositioned material between the handle of the malleus and the head of the stapes. This is also available for columella material in type III or IV columella tympanoplasty.
