Abstract

In light of the evolving global landscape and international economic dynamics, it is imperative for China’s education system to embrace a trend of internationalization. The cultivation of internationalized talent, a pivotal factor influencing a nation’s overall capabilities and global competitiveness, warrants increased emphasis. Local colleges and universities play a significant role in advancing higher education, making it essential to focus on nurturing international talents. This paper begins by defining the essence of international talents and evaluating the current state of international competency among local college students. It then delves into key aspects, including establishing objectives for international talent development, enhancing international curricula, creating platforms for international teaching practices, and forming an ‘international teacher professional community’. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of fostering an international cultural environment on campuses and shaping the values and ideologies of students pursuing international competencies. This paper charts a path towards developing the internationalization competence of college students.
