Abstract
Mitsubishi Hachinohe Mill with seven paper machines including two on-machine coater is capable for producing 70, 000 ton of papers per month. Among seven paper machines. paper machine No. 7 (PM 7), which has been operated since 1997, is the latest paper machine in Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited and produces approximately 400 ton of fine paper and coat base per day.PM 7 has been designed to get high productivity and good quality of the products by introducing the latest paper making technology and devices at that time. The introduction of PM 7 is a technological step for us to a wider paper machine than PM 7 in future.In this report we describe an outline of equipment on PM 7 and its operational experiences. Major items reported here are as follows : (1) Module jet Headbox which makes optimum base weight profile by controlling the stock consistency on the cross machine direction, : (2) Transfer Felt System which actualizes the smooth running of the wet web with high speed in the press section, (3) Shoe-Press ENP-C which introduces high consistency at the outlet of the press section, (4) Symsizer available for heavier coated weight than other size press coater, (5) Web Threading Device without rope in pre dryer, (6) Soft Nip Calender, and (7) Opti-Reel with center drive type.We have been remarkably successful in startup of PM 7 heretofore. However we still have a few operative problems which we have to settle. Gaining our customer's perfect satisfaction, we keep on making an effort to improve quality of products.
