Abstract
There are three types of open bite. They have different morphological characteristics, however, they have similar functional disorders, such as lower masticatory efficiency (biting force, occlusal force, and lower EMG activity of muscles), and excessive activities of tongue and lips. Four themes on masticatory and oro-facial function, undergoing in our postgraduated PhD program, were presented. 1. Estimation of the lips function associated with incisal position 2. Estimation of the lip selaing function associated with chewing gum 3. Occlusal force and occlusal contact 4. Lip sealing function associated with tongute position and facila height
