Abstract
The residual stress of carburized case of armco iron and Si-Mn-Cr-Mo steel was measured by using Heyn's method. The result was as follows: In armco iron and Si-Mn-Cr-Mo steel having ordinary carburized case, high carbon part is under compression and low carbon part is under tension. And also, particular structure (analogous to Bainite) in carburized case of Si-Mn-Cr-Mo steel in under compression.
