Abstract
In order to investigate the aspect of the mutual interference flow from two flat face square cylinders, the visual water-flow observation experiment was performed. In the experiment, the distance ratio and the arrangement angle were made into the parameter, and investigation of vortex shedding frequency or the flow pattern was performed. The distance ratio is 3 kinds, 1.6d (d is a projection width of square cylinder), 2.7d, and 5.9d, and an arrangement angle is 7 kinds per 15 degrees from 0 degree to 90 degrees. The Reynolds number was about 600. As for the visualization technique, the dye oozing streak method was used. From each square cylinder, dye's oozing was performed in two oozing ports on the upper surface, and all the colors of the used dye differed. As the result of experiment, Even if the distance ratio was the same, the vortex shedding characteristic changed with arrangement angles. The mutual interference will become remarkable if the distance ratio is small. If an arrangement angle is smaller than a geometric duplication angle, the vortex shedding frequency from each square cylinder is the same. On the other hand, when an arrangement angle is larger than the geometric duplication angle, the vortex shedding frequency from each square cylinder differs.
