Abstract

A computer data file was made for the optical properties of the rock-forming minerals, and is stored in a floppy-disk in the form of the MS-DOS text file. This file, used in combination with commercially available data base softwares, is useful in microscopic identification of minerals. The particular merit in the use of computer-aided mineral identification is maneuverability in the way of identification, compared to the use of published identification tables in the literatures.
