Abstract

Some properties of the proteinase in the liver extract of the shrimp, Trachypenaeus curvirostris, were investigated. The strongest activity of the proteinase was seen at pH 8.4. It was slightly activated by Mn++, Mg++, Li+ and Ca++ ions, and strongly inhibted by Fe++ Fe+++ Hg++ and Pb++ ions. Na2S2O3 and hydroquinone fairly activated the enzyme, while glutathione, 2-mer-captoetanol, tartaric acid, citric acid and monoiodoacetic acid inhibited stornly.
