Abstract
The recording charateristics of single pole thin film head was investigated. Both narrow track and high linear recording density are necessary in order to make high area recording density possible. Single pole thin film head in which main pole thickness is changed from 0.15 μm to 1.1 μm were manufacture for trial. By using Co-Cr-Pt/Ni-Fe perpendicular magnetic recording medium, recording characteristics were examined. As a result, at 0.2μm of main pole thickness, characteristics of CN ratio: 41 dB, media noise: 2.4μVrms overwrite −30 dB were confirmed.
