Abstract

The rocket engine turbopump is the high-precision and high-speed rotating machinery with high energy density. Therefore, system troubles such as the lateral vibration have occurred in the development. In order to resolve such a system problem, the authors have been studied multidisciplinary optimal design by using QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method and axiomatic design method. However, organizing the design process systematically for the multidisciplinary optimization is not presented. In this study, a conceptual way to combine the QFD matrix and the axiomatic design is presented. Then, this method is applied to the turbopump rotor system and the results of our investigation for the design process is discussed.
