Abstract

The effective preservation measure of biodiversity is to reserve the habitat of living things and active preservation by the residents is desired for the sustainable maintenance and management. However, the residents consider their life is the most important so that the sense of stability of their life and preservation action has an interactive relation. In Yakushima Island, for example, preservation of living things is desired, on the other hand, the damage by apes threatens the agricultural life. In this research, the recognition structure about preservation of living things and the sense of stability of a life of the people in Yakushima Island is modeled based on these subjects, and the causal relationship is clarified quantitatively with the covariance structure analysis model. Based on the result, we considered how the sense of stability of their life has an influence on the consciousness of preserving living things.
