Abstract

Background Many evidences have showed that mechanical ischemic and pharmacological postconditioning are protective against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.Sevoflurane,a novel and ideal volatile anesthetic,is most commonly used to maintain the state of general anesthesia.Experiments have proved that sevoflurane postconditioning can protect against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury(I/RI).Objective The review elaborates myocardial protection of sevoflurane postconditioning and its mechanism by summarizing studies and researches in recent years.Content Sevoflurane postconditioning can reduce reperfusion myocardial infarct size, mitochondrial damage and ventricular arrhythmia,as well as improve cardiac hemodynamic after reperfusion. The myocardial protection mechanism involves blocking mitochondrial permeability transition pore, activating mitochondrial KATP-Channels(mKATp),extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK 1/2)and phatidylinosito1-3-kinase-serine/threonine kinase(PI3K-Akt)signaling pathway, etc.Trend Researches in future should be taken to further explore of the mechanism of sevoflurane postconditioning. And strengthening the clinical applications of sevoflurane postconditioning will also be helpful to provide a reliable basis for the practice work. Key words: Sevoflurane; Ischemia postconditioning; Ischemia/reperfusion injury; Myocardial protection
