Abstract
In the isolated perfused heart, several studies have shown that there is a linear relationship between coronary flow and myocardial contractile function (1–7). The severe reductions of coronary flow decreases high energy phosphate compounds and increases lactate production. In contrast, the mild reductions cause only reduction in contractile function but not high energy compounds (2,4,5,7,8).
