This syndrome is characterized by its onset with substernal or anterior thoracic pain, sometimes severe enough to require differentiation from myocardial infarction,1, 2and is associated with a pericardial friction rub, fever, leukocytosis and elevated sedimentation rate in the majority of instances. A pericardial effusion has appeared in approximately 20 per cent of these cases, and pleural effusion in about 25 per cent. Complete recovery in two to 12 weeks has been the rule,...Bibliography1.
