Abstract

A retrospective, single-center review was performed from 2001 to 2018. Seventeen patients with infected aortic aneurysms (10 ruptures, 11 saccular) were treated by endovascular repair in 13 (endovascular aortic aneurysm repair [EVAR], n = 9; surgeon-modified fenestrated EVAR, n = 4) and open repair in 4 patients. The 1- and 5-year overall survival was 94% and 75%, respectively. The 1- and 5-year infection-free survival was 88% and 63%, respectively. The management of infected aortic aneurysms with the selective use of open or endovascular repair, combined with appropriate long-term antibiotic therapy, can achieve acceptable outcomes.
