Abstract

A 19-year-old previously healthy male presented to the emergency department with a painful blistering rash, conjunctival injection, odynophagia, and fever. Twelve days prior the patient developed a fever of 39.17°C (102.5°F) with minimal response to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). A few days later, he developed cough, malaise, and blisters on his lips and gums. He presented to an outside hospital where he was prescribed oral nystatin as well as miracle mouth wash and discharged home.
