Abstract

Abstract Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is the attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis. Intravesicular live attenuated BCG is one of the well-known effective treatments for transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Severe disseminated mycobacterial infections in such patients are uncommon. Here, we present a case of M. bovis mycotic aneurysm of the left femoral artery, diagnosed 14 months after initiation of intravesical BCG immunotherapy for bladder cancer. Although rare, given the significant morbidity and mortality associated with mycotic aneurysms, physicians should be aware of this complication in appropriate clinical scenarios and should have high index of suspicion; appropriate treatment should be initiated promptly.
