Abstract

SUMMARY Child and youth care professionals often focus on individual youth and relegate the family to a peripheral place in the work. Yet the family remains the foundation for most growth and development of youth. Working from the point of view of the subjective experience of the child allows the worker to include the family as a vehicle for change and as a fundamental aspect of child and youth care practice.
