Abstract
I want to describe a personal odyssey that interweaves my career with three main areas of my work: social psychology, program evaluation, and mental health services research. This essay is a personal reflection on the many social, personal, and random factors that influenced the research paths that I followed. The organization is primarily chronological and I pick up the threads that run though my professional life in no particular order. Writing a professional autobiography is by its very nature an egocentric activity. Some who know me will think that this should pose no challenge to me.
