Abstract

Asymptotic homogenization method (AHM) is used to perform multiscale structural analysis for plain weave composite plates (PWCPs). First, AHM is used to obtain the effective elastic properties of yarns. Then, the effective plate properties of PWCPs are predicted using AHM. Finally, an equivalent plate model is established to perform the macroscale structure analysis, and recover the mesoscale fields. The accuracy and computational efficiency of the multiscale structural analysis are verified by comparing the results with those of direct numerical simulation. Furthermore, the influences of the geometrical parameters and laying angle of yarns on the equivalent plate stiffness are investigated.
