Abstract

A sample holder that allows several samples to be simultaneously placed within the 3He/4He fluid of a dilution refrigerator is described. Samples are located inside a long narrow cold finger through which the cryogenic fluid is continuously circulating. Entry for installing samples is made with a removable soft solder seal. Magnetic effects of this soft solder seal are reduced by locating the seal near the top of the cold finger while samples are located near the bottom. The degree of isothermal conditions maintained along the length of the cold finger is examined, and operational characteristics of a sample holder presently being used are discussed.
