Multiplier Effect Analysis of Cultural Diplomacy of Polewali Mandar Regency through Polewali Mandar International Folk and Art Festival (PIFAF)

Abstract

Polewali Mandar International Folk and Art Festival (PIFAF) is a form of regional cultural diplomacy and tourism promotion tools implemented by the Polewali Mandar Youth, Sport and Tourism office. The aims is to attract tourists to visit Polewali Mandar so that it can provide a multiplier effect for many parties. Therefore, with using qualitative research methods (through interviews, document based research and internet based research), this study shows that the implementation of PIFAF had positive effects that can be viewed from culture value, economic value and prestige value such as reintroducing and maintaining the traditions and culture of Mandar at international level; PIFAF also had facilitated a space for the art practitioners in Polewali Mandar to share their creativity; the development of Tourism and the number of tourists; the development of economic activity and income in various sectors; expanding the tourism potential of Polewali Mandar on a local to international scale and the increasing prestige of Polewali Mandar regency in the national to international level.
