Abstract
Pure monocycle pulse generation in terahertz quasi-optic systems is difficult to achieve owing to the inherent multiple reflections occurring between the laser excited source, detector contact layers and their semiconductor substrates. A reflection suppression algorithm, based on a 1-D propagation model of the source and detector impedance boundaries, is used to isolate and filter unwanted multiple reflections, thus yielding a pure monocycle signature pulse attributable to the impulse response of the test sample only.
