Abstract

Multiple image formation with the use of the spatial sampling filter without the aid of any optical accessories is presented. A sampling filter is placed in the Fraunhofer diffraction region of the coherently illuminated object. It transforms the light field in such a manner that it forms a set of real images spontaneously. The nature of that image formation is explained on the grounds of diffraction.
