Abstract

We examine the physical content and the formal apparatus of multiperipheralism, showing that their essence is an upper bound with suitable decrease and factorization properties. From this bound, we derive an exact factorized representation for the production amplitudes leading to a rigorous multiperipheral integral equation. We give the exact formulae for the total cross-section and then-particle inclusive distributions. The multiperipheral models studied so far appear as possible approximations of our equations.
