Abstract
Formerly, the authors had produced amorphous layers by focus laser beam. Because the width of amorphous layer obtained by single-pass is very small, it is very valuable and necessary to research on multi-pass overlapping of laser glazing in order to produce a wider amorphous layer on the surface of materials. In this paper, the critical laser glazing scanning rates of the FeCrPC and CoNiSiB alloys were calculated and multi-pass overlapping experiments were carried out. The result of laser glazing shows that under the condition of laser power of 2.1 kW, beam diameter of 0.3 mm and laser scanning speed of 340 mm/s, the multi-pass amorphous layers of about 20×20 mm 2 are obtained, and no obvious crystallizing in overlapping zone is observed. The X-ray diffraction result also confirms that the whole area of laser glazed specimen are amorphous. In addition, the investigation and discussion on the influence of original microstructure to the formation of amorphous layer and the crystallizing behavior in overlapping zone are carried out.
